Show Us A Song Title

The challenge this week at SSSS was to Show a Song Title in your piece and I had to do a journal page spread using an old book page, so I made this spread with the song We are family in mind. The pages do say We are Family, I've Got All My Sisters In Me... but the glare off the acrylic paints makes it hard to see. LOL. I was inspired by a you-tube I saw but don't remember where. I wish I could draw or paint, but can't so I stamped my faces and doodled the edge borders and free hand cut the dresses and hats and hair-do's. I used a few of Dylusions stamps with Distress ink and white snowcap pigment ink over my background and then just stamped with black Memento for the swirls and birds and butterflies.

Art Journalling

The challenge in the OWSE group currently is to use masking on your project. Since I have recently started an art journal, I couldn't help but make a spread. I used paints for my background and it was so extremely bright and obnoxious, that I die-cut my birds and used them as masks and painted over the whole thing with gesso to tone it down. Got a wonderful result. Used a Crafty Companion stencil and made the trees and colored in with my Copics. Had to do a bit of free-nanding for more leaves and a few branches. Over-stamped in black Archival ink some Wendy and Tim verses and a few backgrounds in light colored Distress inks. Another template and white acryllic paint for the border at the top. I think it's done. What do you think?

Valentine card and another OWSE challenge

One of the January challenges on OWSE is to make a card using either a silouhette or a cameo. Well, I love them both and need to make a Valentine for hubby and birthday cards for two of my sisters, one of whose birthday is Valentines Day and the other one is the 11th, so I usually make them both a Valentine birthday card. Here's my version this year. I just learned to do these easel cards, so am having some fun with these.

Making cards today

Woo-hoo, short day from work today, so spent a lot of time in my studio. I made a birthday card for my very dear friend Roger that also is going to be entered for the new ranger challenge, organized and stickles. I am also using it for the OWSE challenge of Anything Goes. It certainly fits that. We had to use three
Stickles on our design and do something organized. Well this little bird has organized her tree. LOL I used colored pencils to color my bird after I die-cut her. Then I used Stormy Sky Distress Stickles for the blue portion, Rusty Hinge Distress Stickles for her chest, top of head and beak, and Lime Green Stickles for my branch. I die cut Tim's on the edge Twigs from thick chipboard and stained it with walnut stain over the top of Vintage Photo stains and blued it down to hold the card up. Did I mention that it's an easel card? Well, it is and that's the reason I had to use the thick chipboard. I hope he likes it. I was pleased with the results.

Parisian challenge and fave stamp by SA tag swap

When I made this tag originally, it was for my Parisian challenge over at OWSE, but then I signed up for the favorite stamp by Stamper's anonymous tag swap and made three more of them for that. I used the Papillon stamp as my background, blended several colors of Distress inks, over-

stamped with the small stamps from that set and added Tim's tissue tape that I added some distress inks to as well with the blending tool. I die-cut the Eifel tower from chipboard and painted it black. Once dry, I painted it with platinum crackle paint and when that dried, I rubbed walnut stain distress ink into the cracks with the blending tool, added a fleur-de-lis brad and ribbon and called it good.

Art Journalling

At last I am going to be brave enough to try my hand at this "art journalling" thing everyone else seems to do so naturally. I have wanted to try it for a long time, but just didn't know where to start or how, so tonight, I just went to my studio and sat down with my book and started adding inks, oaints, and gesso. I sprayed and sponged and dabbed and scraped and used stencils and stamps. I then die-cut one of Tim's clocks from chipboard and rubbed it black with distress ink and then covered it in clear UTEE and heated and repeated twice more. Glued it down with Ranger's glossy accents and here's my challenge for the journalling club at OWSE for New Year's Resolutions, Make time for art is my resolution covered here. It was fun and didn't take much time at all. Finally got to use a few of those cool stencils/templates I collected.

A friend of a blogger friend of mine, Donna Vere, contacted me recently with some bad news that Donna had suffered a stroke during the Twelve tags of Christmas this year. Donna and Allison, and I played along all last year and made all of the past year's tags doing one a week. When she suddenly stopped posting this year's tags, I wondered what was uop but thought she was just super busy as we all are in December. Then I got the news from Rhonda about the stroke. I made her this card and sent it out to her and am praying for a full recovery for her. I am hoping she has gotten it by now.

Hanging with Wendy

Well, I never even got around to downloading my pics of Wendy and I in the Stamper's Anonymous booth at the OOAK stamp show in Madison, Wi. in November. I was wearing my new Wendy shirt in the pumpkin color. Wendy said I was the first she'd seen wearing one of them so we had a photo op. I wish I had gotten a smaller size. I ordered a medium after losing 44 pounds this past year but I am swimming in it! I think I will try to make some seams down both sides and try to make it smaller. Love it, but it is huge on me. Wendy was a sweetie and had some gorgeous art there on display. She gave me a goodie pack of her art parts for being part of the yahoo group and mentioning it. She is so talented and so friendly.

SSSS- Show us Some and Some New

Well, I have been going to do this for some time now so today I finally got two of the years of tags made into a Christmas banner to hang in my family room. I strung it up for the photos but will put it away now for next year and hopefully by then, get the rest of the year's put together onto banners. I used my Cricut to cut the banner pieces out of patterned paper and then glued to an ugly light green cardstock I had a ton of. Never going to use that stuff! Then I cut them all out and added the trim piece in a coordinating color, added eyelets to hold the string. Strung together my 2011 tags(something new) and my 2009 tags (something old) from Tim's Twelve Days of Christmas. Why did I skip 2010 you ask??? Because I can't seem to find where I hid those away!!! I found 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011. I am so organized here, NOT!!! It was a fun project and they will look great wen I have them all the way around my family room. It was hard to get good photos of such a long banner so I did it in sections and with a flash, not the best but you can get the idea of how it looks.

! Here's my card. I used Tim's tissue paper and hos technique for the background using the Glue and Seal, several distress ink colors in pinks, reds, and blues, and browns. I love the new brown from the fall collection!!! I used his dies for the baroque portion and frame, ran them thru my Vagabond, "Vincenzo", in his brick and ray texture fade folders. Put some of his tissue tape onto cardstock and die cut his bird on a branch from the caged bird die. Layered it all up and added some filrmstrip ribbon with Tim's tiny attacher, love that stuff, and enamel accents for the bird's eye. Die cut a locket and key by sizzix and added them. The bird was pop-dotted up. I guess that's about it.

I was on a roll yesterday and finished up all of the tags so now have to get them posted. Yahoo is being a bear and won't let me add pics to the albums in the ATT group or the OWSE group. I have been trying every day this week, so yesterday I decided to leave the computer alone and get the rest of them made. This was a really easy one and I was so amazed how easily the image transferred.

I loved making this one so much, that I made a second one for my good friend and co-worker, Nancy. I was going to take her Christmas gift to work and decided I could add this tag to the top of it as I had already mailed her card out. I used a new Penny Black , I think, background stamp I recently bought for it. Love this stamp but it's very hard to see here. I really liked the lamp-post that Ted used on his tag, so I went with that as well and added a jingle bell to it after glitzing it up. I love how the glossy accents addition to the letters makes them look. What a transformation! I will be doing that over and over again. Thanks Tim!!! Well, it was a hit with Nancy and when she came to work today, she said her husband looooved the tag! He told her, she can't throw that away. LOL As if.....

I really love this tag. It is so subtle and yet looks so detailed and deep witht that ghost stamping technique. Very cool results. I had to include the angel on my tag as I think it is just beautiful! This is one of my favorite sets of Tim's stamps. love the alcohol inks on glassine paper also. I had not tried that before today. I am kind of surprised that I caould go right to my pack of glassine paper at all! Usually most of my time is spent digging for the supplies.

i am finally getting this one uploaded. I have to say, I was NOT impressed with this tag as I was making it. Was actually thinking it was headed towards the trash. That is until I burnished off some of the paint and then inked and embossed. Wow! What a difference that made! Very cool technique, thanks Tim!

This one was pretty hard for me like many others, but I finished it anyway. Several spots are blurry. I didn't make a wreath, as I really loved the stains and crackle paint grunge-board from day 4, I made an ornament the same way an the numbers 25. i haven't even gone and looked at today's yet and have to go to my grandson's Christmas program real soon so back to catch up tomorrow. LOL

I really loved this tag for day 4! Love, love, love the crackled paint, distress stain baked grungeboard! Gonna do this again and again! Thanks Tim! Love the glossy accents in the cut out 25 also. Very cool results! Since I cannot throw anything away, I have tons of the clear plastic packaging to use also. My friends used to make fun of me for keeping it as I kept it before anyone was doing anything with it. LOL

Wow, I have never really liked this technique before, but after following it better and really concentrating, I got a stamp pad made and it works! i think the embossing really adds a lot to it. Loved the curling tip from Tim and the bell really makes it cute!

Yeah, it's finally here! The tags Tim Holtz shares with us every year for a twelve day learning journey of holiday fun has arrived at last! I am already a day behind but I have yesterday's tag done and am going into my studio to start today's after this post. i pretty much followed the instructions to a tee today but I had so much fun making the pine-cones that I made extras and added them all. I just used some loose pearl beads for my baubles and cut my Noel die cut from glitter cardstock so no messy hands here. LOL

Grungy Monday #24/ Show Us One Color

This week I am combining challenges again for Linda's Grungy Monday #24, Perfect Distressing by the master of Distress himself, Lord Tim and SSSS challenge to show us one color. I used red as my color and made a Christmas card from mine. I really liked mine until I spritzed it with water after brushing the perfect pearls on. I lost the definition of my gorgeous background.Still looks good, but was really pretty before that. I stuck to just red so I could use it for the challenge in SSSS.

Well, I am taking a few minutes to play along again this week!Linda at StudioL3 has challenges us with "Tim in 10". Make a project with any Tim product in 10 minutes or less. Much needed for my sanity! I have been spending every waking moment, not at work, down to my daughter's new home they bought last month trying to get it ready for them to live in. Done or not, they plan on moving in tomorrow. I used coordinations cardstock and ran thru embossing folder and sanded the snowflakes with T

im's sanding block. I die-cut his reindeer and embossed them as well. Added some bling from my stash with glossy accents and used Tim's Distress stain to die my seam binding and dried it with my heat-gun. Voila!

Grungy Monday- #21

Linda over at StudioL3 has challenges us to use fragments this week. Love these babies. I finally got brave enough to try to put together a necklace made from these after ogling Sherry's beautiful works forever on her blog and wishing I lived close enough to take her classes. I got out some patterned paper scraps, an old map, a couple stamps and some archival ink and went to town. I stamped the images onto them and then began laying my fragments onto them to see where I wanted them. Once I decided, I smeared a bit of Glossy accents onto the fragments and laid them onto the stamped images. Went to family room and watched my beloved Packers until half-time to allow to dry. Then I used my Tim scissors to trim around them and cut them out. I then used the tutorial Christie Hund

shared on her blog, Thanks Christie! Except I used aluminum tape from the hardware aisle of Wal-Mart for my metal sheets. Added some alcohol inks, ran through one of Tim's embossing folders and sanded the high spots. I then smeared my black archival ink pad over it to make it pop. Next a layer of Rock Candy distress stickles to seal it after I sanded the edges good so no sharp edges remained. Poked through the holes with Tim's awl tool, added jump rings and my chain. Then I added a couple wings, heart and wings, and a key charm to a couple of them randomly. What a fun and easy project! And the Packers won!!! Doesn't get any better than this!

Whew! It's been a long journey, but here we are at long last, completing our sets of Tim's Christmas tags. It all started when we were following along with Tim last year and my good blog buddy, Donna, commented how she wished she had made all of the years of tags. I told her if she made just one a week starting in January, she would complete them all in plenty of time to be ready to join Tim again this year and have a complete set. So, she popped right back at me with, "You'll be making them with me, right?" Well, the rest is history and Allison joined in along with us and played every week as well, except she not only completed a tag each time, but also a Christmas card, so she has a good supply ready to use for this year's mailing! Smart girl, that Allison! It has been very fun and challenging to revisit all of these techniques. The background on this week's is one of my favorites. It is just so soft and pretty looking! And of course, who doesn't love the grunge paper roses! Anyway, here's my final tag and a huge thank you to Donna and Allison for joining me in this fun adventure!

SSSS-challenge

This week over at SSSS, the theme is Anything Goes. I have been itching to make a Configurations Box so thought this was the perfect time. I took a big box of stuff I had collected for it over to my good stamping friend, Diana's house to see her new craft room and we went at it. I just finished mine up today with the addition of the banner at the bottom that I lifted from the very talented Candy. Thanks for the inspiration girlfriend!!! I also added the fake snow to the floor of it and around my snowman to look more real. I think it turned out pretty cute for my first one! I have a few close-ups on here so you can see the different boxes up close. I added distress inks to my tissue tape to give it some color and depth. Can you see the On The Edge snowflakes in there made with glitter cardstock. Very pretty and sparkly in real life. Fun project!

Gothic Arch

On my OWSE group, the next challenge in the alphabet challenge is G is for Gothic arch. I just happened to decide to finally start a series of gothic arches that I learned and was inspired by Roni on her blog last May. She made hers up as a Mother's day gift. I knew I wouldn't have time to make them by then, but printed off each day and saved them. Well, finally I finished one of them. Need to move onto another one now. Wish me luck on that!

OWSE challenge

Robyn made a fabulous tag last Friday and gave us a week to come up with our version of it and post for a chance to win a prize. I made up my background and waited patiently,or not so much, for it to dry so I could finish it. Well, this morning I put it together and added some tissue tape and a UTEE covered chipboard butterfly I die-cut a while back and stamped into with gold ink while hot. For his body portion, I used one of Tim's memo pins and threaded more of the same Papillon tissue tape onto it and kind of ruffled it. Added some ribbon and tied in a knot and layered it up. What do you think of it? So shimmery in real life!

Stampsmith Challenge

I have so many beautiful stamps form the Stampsmith, yet I never find time to use them or any others for that matter. Well, I am still on vacation this week, and saw the challenge on their blog. A sketch was given and you have to foll

ow that and use at least one Stampsmith stamp. I went with a Christmas theme and stamped in Archival black on glossy for my image. Used a few designer papers, mostly glittery ones. I added some ribbon to the one strip to break it up a bit and cut one of my new doily die-cuts from Cheery Lynn designs. I am loving their dies and so glad I stumbled upon them. This was a fun challenge for me as I never seem to use sketches anymore.

Eyelet challenge layout

On the Outlaw Women's Scrapbook Emporium (OWSE)yahoo group, we are challenged to make a project and use at least 15 eyelets. Now, that's a lot of eyelets! I even used my Cricut to cut the scalloped circle layer to begin with. I punched holes for the eyelets only to discover that my Crop-o-dile couldn't reach all of them. I dug and dug until I found an old fashioned eyelet setter and never did find a mat. LOL.

I guess I need to buy the Big-Bite after all. I made several of all the sizes of Tim-baby's rosettes and several fancy flourishes to tie the colors together. The pics are of my oldest daughter, Angela, and her kids, Victoria and AJ (Anthony). What fun I had making this and now I know that I need to start making some more layouts. I haven't scrapped anything in so long!

December tags, Day #11, 2009

OMG, where has the time gone! This vacation time is more hectic than working. LOL We were out of town for a few days and I forgot to have my post ready for Saturday morning, so here it is, a bit late. This was a fun one for me, though my brads did not cooperate, even though I have the tool, and with not mush time before leaving for vacation, I decided to use some cute buttons from my stash instead. Will play with that tool later and get it figured out. Don't forget to add your link if you play along and go see what Donna and Allison have made as well.

Masking/Travel

Having to go for a two-fer again this week! I needed to do a masking challenge for my OWSE yahoo group and the theme at SSSS this week was Travel, so I am using this piece for both. I started out with a vanilla cardstock and laid my masks on it. Sprayed with color washes in butterscotch and sunset orange. Dabbed and removed the masks. Using an ink blender, I added Vintage photo and then Walnut Stain to the edges of the card for depth. I then stamped many background images randomly using Archival inks in a few colors, mostly sepia, coffee, and olive. i also added a few in Monarch Orange. Yum! I then stamped the car in embossing ink and then black powder and heated it. Then stamped the verses in black archival and coffee archival inks. Mounted it to a brown cardstock and called it finished. Will make a nice page to a 6 x 6 I think so am keeping it flat without embellies at this point.

Eclectric Paperie Challenge

What a fun challenge I saw over on the Eclectric Paperie blog that I just had to make the time to enter. We were challenged to use an egg carton, a die, and distress inks and or stains. Well, that part was easy as I use them on everything I stamp. My background was wrinkle-free distress and then I took the bottom of the egg carton and cut apart the sections where the eggs sit and used it to stamp the background with Pumice stone distress ink. I die-cut a flourish from the egg carton and colored it with Peeled Paint stain and glued it dwn with glossy accents. I die-cut 6 flowers from the egg carton and used Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmelade stains to color these, stacked and bent and formed them and used a large brad to hold them together and used "snot-dots" to hold them onto the tag.You know, the dimensional big globs of glue. LOL I added Distress stickles in the same colors to them for a little sparkle. I stamped the verse on bottom corner and then die-cut the butterfly movers and shapers out of more of the egg carton I used for the flowers. I stamped it with a crackle stamp in black after using Broken China distress stain on them. Added the Gunmetal Stickles for the body and glossy accents to adhere it to the tag. Died seam binding with Distress Stain to match and voila!

Grungy Monday #20

Wow, week #20 already of the lovely Linda's challenges! I finally made something for this. Have been wanting to try my jalopy die for a while now, so used it here. I used plain old black cardstock to cut it and then cut the trim pieces with aluminum tape from the hardware aisle (used for plumbing I think.) I used a map for the background and then after I added tecture to my jalopy with one of Tim's folders, I smeared it up good with Black soot Distress Stickles. Hard to get the cool sparkle effect on a camera but I caught some of it for you. Once dried, I added several of the trim pieces cut from aluminum. I thought it looked like chrome, so no need to color it with alcohol inks. Also wanted to thank everyone for praying for my oldest daughter, Angela. We got great results, NO LUNG CANCER as they had suspected, but Sarcoidosis instead. We will deal with that! Much better than cancer! It was a long couple of weeks waiting and she is still very sore and in a lot of pain from the accident but hoping to heal. She has three vertebrae that have torn ligaments in her neck area so long way to go to feel good and return to work but at least we won't be dealing with cancer on top of it.

Outlaw Women's Scrapbook Emporium- Quickfire Challenge

In the OWSE yahoo group, we are having a quickfire challenge where Robyn has challenged us to cut at least two hand-made dies and create a piece using them. She made a really great piece with hearts but I didn't want to copy hers, though I can draw and cut a heart. LOL I went with Christmas trees. I used two different patterns of glitter cardstock I have been hoarding forever and then cut trunks from brown cardstock. I used snowflake brads as my stars and distress inked the edges of both layers of my background in
Vintage Photo ink. I glued one tree down and pop-dotted the other for depth. I used my Viva Decor Pearl pens for the ornaments. Oh, those are fun! We only have until 7:00 p.m. tomorrow to finish them her time so it is just what it's called, a Quickfire Challenge". What a fun challenge and I have got a card done for Christmas!

Wow, 19 weeks already into Linda's Grungy Monday challenges! I can't believe how fast time goes. Thanks to Linda for giving us these fabulous challenges every week to keep us creating! I so enjoy these and going to all the other blogs to see the wonderful artwork that is shared! It has been a blast for me and have made so many blogger friends! This week we revisited Tim's Christmas tag for the technique we used. I decided to make a humorous Halloween tag from mine, so cut my embossing folder like Tim does to use it on tags. I also tried his Distress Stain marbling technique on the tag with Picket Fence, Dusty Concord, and Marigold stains. I used my tiny attacher to add the packaging to the tag. One of my bats was added to the outside of the plastic packaging and I painted it with Rock Candy crackle paint and blasted it with my heat gun and made it blister for some cool texture. Colored my white ghost ribbon with Dusty Concord using the blending tool and pad.

Happy Saturday bloggers! Here is my tag for Day #9, 2009 of Tim's Twelve tags of Christmas journey we are almost done with. I am also using it as my entry to the SSSS challenge this week to show a Tim technique. This is such a fun and playful tag. I wish now I would have used the faux enamel technique on my numbers as well. I might have to take them off and do it! Such a hectic week here with lots of running to Dr's and specialists with my oldest duaghter. She was rear-ended a week and a half ago and was hurt. When she had her cat scans for the injury, they found some other possibly very serious things that need to be acted on right away so we have been to three appt's so far and will go Tuesday morning for the results of the lung biopsies they did on Thursday. We are so praying for the sarcoidosis rather than lymphoma. Please pray for Angela if you are a believer!

Going for a three-fer again this week! For Linda's "Grungy Monday" #18, we are using Tim's Christmas Tags technique from Day #8, 2009 which is exactly where we are this week on my challenge here and on SSSS

we are to make a tag. I loved this tag of Tim's since I saw it, so had a great time with this one. Love the lamp-post but will be happy to have the die instead of cutting it out after stamping on grunge. LOL Love the music background on the vellum also. Very cool effect.

Grungy Monday #17

Last minute attempt to get this uploaded. Had grandkids here and didn't get it done last night even though the tag was done. My 6 yr. old grandson made me up a pile of backgrounds on tags using Distress inks and blending tools so I am putting them to use. He and my 10 yr. old granddaughter love to craft with Grandma, so I taught them how to blend distress inks and to do wrinkle-free distressing. They made a pile of small tags for themselves to use and a few large ones for me.This week we are using Tim's "Get Ready to Rock" technique. I have been itching to try one of my new sets of Tim's stamps so used it here. Love that Rock candy! AJ did too. He had to have his tag crackled too.

Up to Day #7, 2009 in the challenge to complete all of Tim's Christmas tags. Only five more to go and we will be done as we did the 2010 tags along with Tim last year. I really love the soft background on this one even though it was not like Tim's at all. I think I need to reink my pads and replace my white paint dabber as it barely shows up. Halfway through the last year of the series! I really loved making this tag. Such a fun one and love the technique used. Head over to Tim's blog and click on 12 Tags of Christmas 2009 for details and step-by-steps of how to make it. Of course I see now that my ideology word had spun around backwards for the picture! LOL Oh well, you get the idea. Just pretend you see the word Cherish, it's there, believe me! I have to remember to take the picture while it's still light out as my studio is in my basement and the light's not so good late in the day and evening so always have to be done with mine by my lunchbreak the day before to get the picture. hope you will join us and add a link to your work!

Grungy Monday, SSSS, Everything wendy Vecchi challenge

am really doing this card as a three-for this week. I finally got my piece done which will fit the bill for all three challenges this week. Whew! Grungy Monday #16 was to use grungeboard or grunge-paper, SSSS was to show us some embossing, and Everything Wendy was to make a card using at leat one of her stamps and a bird. I used a piece of Tim's glassine paper to emboss it in one of his folders. First I wrinkled it up and smoothed it out. After embossing it, I ran my Walnut distress ink over the raised areas. yummy! Then I sprayed it with Tattered Angels Pearl spray and mounted it to the cardstock. I stamped Wendy's man on grungeboard and embossed it with black and cut it out and then stamped the watchband on grungepaper and used Walnut distress powder on it and then cut that out. I cut it a little narrower so that I could use a metal slide from my stash and pop-dotted it on. I pop-dotted the dude on also and then took some old copper wire and twisted and tied a small nest and added it on top of the watch-band with two snot-dots as I call the bit pop-up glue dots and punch a bird out of shimmery white cardstock and used the same thick glue-dots in the nest to hold him in after I colored him an eye.

Grungy Monday #15/ Simon Says Show Us Some Stitches Combo

Only Tuesday and I have completed these two challenges for this week already and here is my rendition. Linda had us go to Tim's blog and use his technique on a Christmas tag for our background and then create a project with it. Well, this is one of my favorites, so loved it! I used worn lipstick and frayed burlap for the rusty enamel and decided to go with a sewing theme so I could incorporate SSSS challenge into this tag as well. They had us Show Them Some Stitches. I got out my machine and stitched on some ric-rac that I stained with my Distress stains. I then tied some black lace around the tag and added a Maya Road decorative stick pin into that. I embossed with black onto chipboard the dressform stamp of Tim's and fussy cut it out. folded for pleats and used tiny attacher to add the skirt of tulle. Then added a waistband from some velvet ribbon trim from my stash. Pop-dotted this on the edge and tied some tulle around the hole and frayed the ends by tearing.

Grungy Monday #14

Just squeaking in under the wire this week with my entry which I combined with my July "tip-In" page swap over at OWSE yahoo group. I struggled this time as my theme was Vampire Kisses for Sandy's book. I had no idea so found this image from True Blood and printed it off cut off the words True Blood and It Hurts So Good and added crackle paint to them. For the background, I used the Tim's March 2008 technique

for this week's Grungy Monday over at Studio L3, using Tim's technique as instructed there. Love those homemade mists. I sure hope that she likes my page and that my next assignment is an easier theme!

SSSS- Show us a Flourish

I am scrambling to finish up the challenge on the Everything wendy Vecchi yahoogroup this week, which was simple; just use red, white, and blue, and at least one of Wendy's stamps, yet here it is the day before the deadline and I'm cramming. So I combined this challenge with the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge to use a flourish and voila! I used Ranger embossing ink with Wendy's background stamp that I thought would work for stripes on the lower portion of my tag and then used some Puffy White embossing powder i got at a convention years ago for a $1.00 for a whole baggie of it and have never used. Had to try it as I couldn't find my tupperware dish of regular white. Clean room of stash I keep. LOL Then used tim's stars and did thesame thing to the top. Distress stains over that, masking the two areas from eahc other with scrap paper and then a piece of tissue tape between. Wiped off with a soft cloth, note: regular powder does not wipe part way off like puffy does. LOL Still glad I tried it, it's kind of cool stuiff. By the way, I found my regular white now also. Go figure! Used my shrink plastic and stamloed and then colored with colored pencils the two Artyistic Outpost stamps. Die cut Tim's elegant flourished from blue, glued them down and the shrink poieces over tyhem and added the red ribbon.How's that for a quickie!

Grungy Monday #13/ SSSS-Show Us A Word

Linda's wonderful challenge this week has us watch Tim play with his fabulous alcohol inks and then create something using them, while "SSSS" wants us to "Show Them A Word", so again I am combining these challenges into one.I used the word, Believe here. I love alcohol inks and really enjoyed the plaid technique Tim taught us on Day #3 of the Twelve Tags of Christmas 2009 on his blog, so I used that and recreated the tag here. Thanks Tim, yours was such a winner I had to have one! Think these would be great of men's gifts this year. Whatcha think?

Here is the first one I made for this tag, however, I did make the one with the trees also but am using it for a couple of other challenges as well so using a separate post for it. Please check it out on my blog. I love this plaid technique using the alcohol inks! They are my favorites inks aside from Distress inks but I am falling for the new Archival colors hard! They are awesome if you haven't seen them yet. I have four of the new ones but need them all! You can't see the word charm very well in the picture as it is small but it says Merry Christmas. Grungy Monday #12/ Show Us Some Metal

I had the afternoon off today, so got busy and did another two-fer for the challenge on Linda's blog and Simon Says Stamp and Show blog. We had to use Tim's April 2008 technique challenge for Grungy Monday and Show Some Metal for SSSS. I used anotehr harlequin background stamp I had on some very bright designer paper with roses on it and I did use the Expresso paint on it. For my metal flowers, I used the metal tape in the plumbing row at walmart added to cardstock and die cut Tim's tattered flowers and the leaves and butterflies are his movers and shapers minis. I then ran them through Vincenzo, my vagabond in various embossing folders and then inked them up with alcohol inks in sevral colors. Bent and formed them, layered them up and added them to the tag. It still needed something, so I added the tissue tape and smeared some Walnut Stain distress ink onto it. Added the ribbon and there you have it!

Oonce again I have signed up for a whole new type of swap for me where you gather up a hard-cover book, and measure the size for your partner and they create you a page to fit it, leaving a half inch area along the left side free for adding it to your book when you get it. My theme is Nature; birds, animals, trees, flowers, etc, so pretty wide open. My first assignment was for Wendy's book in Australia and she chose Butterflies, so I made myself an extra one as it would also go with my theme so my book will fill up faster if I do a few myself, especially since I am not too confident as I have never done this type of project before. Here's what I made for Wendy. I used an old dictionary page adhered to cardstock with Claudene's matte medium. I stamped in clear embossing ink and clear powder for the resist and then blended several Distress ink colors onto it. Punched out lots of scraps into various butterflies and adhered them, adding a Tim spinner and brad to the focal butterfly. Computer generated the words from an old Elton John song and mounted them on black cardstock and cut them at odd angles randomly. Stickles to the bodies and called it good. Kind of a fun project. Got our new partners assigned today for next month and I have to do Vampire Kisses! Yikes! I don't know where to begin.

Moving right into 2009, here we are at Day #1. This one is so pretty in all the blue and purple hues and I just love that reindeer with his scarf! My icicles aren't the best but they look fine. LOL I notice now, I forgot to add some ribbon or fiber to the top. Have to get on that! Hope you will play along and add a link to your work below. We already have finished 2007, 2008, and had done 2010 before we started playing catch up here, so only 11 more to go!

SSSS- Show Us some torn edges

This week over at http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/2011/06/simon-says-stamp-and-show-your.html blog, the challenge was to Show Us Some Torn Edges and I had so much fun doing Linda's challenge over at Studio L3, that I made another tag using Tim's faux batik for this one as well. My windmill kind of got lost though as the stamp just was not a good choice for thias technique but I loved the coloring of it, so I stmaped the postage stamp on a scrap and tore around it and did the technique again on that and got my torn edges incorporated as well. I used weathered wood for the batik stamping , the i blended brushed corduroy, stormy sky, and vintage photo and a bit of walnut stain. After I melted the weathered wood, I overstamped with Coffee archival and black Archival inks. Used my distressing tool to tear the edges and then walnut stain followed by black soot blended over that. Pop-dotted the postmark batik piece on top, which I used antique linen for the batik part. Used my distress stains to dye the seam binding I tied on the top.

Grungy Monday #11

Only Thursday this week and I am posting my finished tag for this technique of Tim's. It's an oldie but a goodie as they say, whoever "they" are! i made two of them and am using one of them for the challenge over at Simon Says. For this one, I went with pretty, soft colors; wild honey, brushed corduroy, worn lipstick, and dusty concord. Did my technique stamping in Victorian Velvet. I then overstamped the Papillon butterflies with Archival Coffee ink and then embossed the drippy butterfly in black powder with Ranger Embossing ink after I ironed to create the faux botik. I used my Distress stains in Wild honey and spun sugar to color my seam binding for the ribbon. I also used my distresser and tore up the edges a bit and used some Walnut Stain on them with a blending tool. Thanks to Linda again for keeping us motivated and challenging us every week to stay inky! I have enjoyed doing these weekly challenges so very much and have met so many wonderful and talented stampers who are my new "cyber friends".

OWSE challenges

I have been trying to play along with the many challenges over at the Oulaw Women's Scrapbook Emporium yahoo group as much as I can and so far I have been very lucky and have won several times already! Great goody packages too! So here are my teo latest entires. One is Buttons Challenge and the other was Currogated Cardboard tag. I used my Distress Stains on the tag and sprayed the die cut corugated with Perfect Pearls mists to get the shimmer.i added tim's spinners and long attachers for the body of the butterflies.On the buttons one, I decided to make a 4 x 4 since I never seem to try these. I made a sun from a scalloped circle punch and trimmed it and added the buttons as my rays. Covered the coaster in pattern paper and sanded the corners. Made a tiny pinwheel flower with a scalloped square punch and double sided paper and added a button to that. twisted a piece of ribbon for the stem and tied a know in another tiny piece for the leaves. Stamped the verse. Voila!

Grungy Monday #10/ SSSS- Show Us a Tag

This week Linda's Grungy Monday Challenge is Distress Ink-o-Rama and the SSSS challenge is Show Us a Tag, so easy-peasy to do a combo again. since I am addicted to Distress Inks, and I love to make tags, how can I go wrong this week! I used Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick, Stormy Sky, and Ancient Paper inks for my tag with a blending tool for the background. I then stamped my new LaBlanche image with Coffee Archival ink. Distressed the edges with Tim's tool and then blended the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Added some Tissue tape at the top and blended some of the inks on there. I used seam binding that I sprayed with Colorwash and then the new Perfect Pearls sprays after that for my fiber. Added three brads at bottom and called it good. The image is really my focaus so didn't need to embellish any further.

Chotski pins

Over at the All Things Tim Yahoo Group, the vendor of the month for May was Red Lead. Theyt sell a lot of really great products and their stamps are wonderful. They decided to hold a Chotski pin swap where we would make a pin to trade one for one. I sent mine off to them a couple of days ago and can't wait to see what I get back. I made one for myself too and will be making more of these later. I went with a Patriotic theme since we are nearing July. I had not made charms before so used purchased ones except the shrink plastic one I added to each of these.

Going for another twofer this week with my Grungy Monday #9 and using my favorite stamp set for SSSS challenge this week, Show us your favorite stamp. We went back to Tim's Christmas Tags to 2007 for this one called Shabby Chic. I used my favorite set by Oxford Impressions and am really happy with m,y results. I usually have a very hard time removing the paint from my image, but nailed it this time. I used Terra Cotta, Butterscotch, and Sunshine Yellow dabbbers for mine. I edged the whiole tag with Terra Cotta dabber when done. Overstamped in Archival Black for the flying bird, music notes, and tracks. You can join in on Linda's blog and the SSSS blog.

I am late again but at least I got this done before the deadline tomorrow. On the wendy Vecchi yahoo group, Lori is challenging us to make different projects based on Wendy's books. Either one or two week deadlines, depending on the project. This week, we had to make a card and incorporate anatc on it, turned horizontally and use a chipboard circle on the atc and at leasy one of Wendy's stamps. I used two sets for mine, A Form of Art and Just Sew Artsy. I stamped in Coffee Archival ink and also my brand new French Ultramarine Archival Ink. I also added some Vintage Photo around the edges with my blending tool. The circle was stamped in black archival and then clear embossing ink and UTEE three layers, heated in between each layer. The skirt is two colors of tulle that I gathered at the waist and then added the lace trim. An old sewing pattern was torn and uised for the background and then overstamped with the stitches and buttonholes. I computer generated the verse. Made three of these, one for my girlfriend, one for my daughter, and one to keep as a sample. Fun card!

Grungy Monday #8, SSSS, Show Me Some Wendy, and Making Art Wendy Style #13

Here it is, only Monday, and I have combined all of these challenges and gotten not one, but two cards made up using the technique of Tim's described on Linda's blog for the Grungy Monday challenge this week. It also fits the topic for SSSS, Show Me Some Wendy challenge this week, so entering there as well. It also meets the challenge on the Everything Wendy Vecchi yahoo group for Making Art Wendy Style, #13. I used watercolor paper and stamps from Wendy's Artfully Said,Botanical Art, and Card art Essentials sets. I used Adirondack inks in mountain rose, sunset orange, purple twilight,clover, and meadow. Then India Ink black for the words.I blended some Pumice Stone distress ink around the edges and I smeared some ink in broken china and stormy sky on my craft mat and misted with water and then ever so slightly dipped areas into it and wish I had been a bit more careful as I kind of smeared some of the flowers, but we are going for watercolored, aren't we! Tim would say, "Embrace your Imperfection!" I sure hope I can keep playing along now. Feels good to have creatd something for the challenge again!

Challenges Catch Up Day

I had a half day of work today and decided since it is rainy out to make it a day to "catch up" and get my challenges for this month done. So here are the ones I have so far. They are all for the Oulaw Women Scrapbooking Emporium, better known as OWSE yahoogroup. What a fun bunch of gals and lots of talent! One is a tag challenge using Pearls and Lace, one is any project using an Animal, which is truly an alphabet challenge, starting with A is for Animal, and the third one is Torn Paper. Make any project using torn paer where I used a large torso I picked up on EBay a while back and hadn't decided what to do with it. I don't think it is done yet, it still needs something. Any suggestions are much appreciated. My Pearls on the tag are actually made with the new Viva Pearl Pens. Love these things. Wanted to use my HotRocks tool but none of my bling are pearls, just gems. Bought it quite a while ago and still haven't used it. I did use the stencil for my pearls though. Now to work on my Bind-It- All assignments that I didn't do last week for the online course I took to figure that toy out that I just had to have when they hit the market. LOL I just HAVE to"have it all." I used to think it was just me, but thanks to yahoogroups and blogger, I now know that I am NOT alone! We are hoarders and we are addicted BIG TIME!!!

Grungy Monday #7

Here it is, already Friday and I am just getting my Grungy Monday piece done. Where does the time go! I had a good time putting this one together. The technique is really simple and fun following Tim's instructions on his video. I love the challenges that Linda puts put there for us every week at Studio L3 blog. So much fun! After I made the backgrounds, I stamped Mona on one and tore around her. I tore up the flap from opne of the boxes I just got from an online order from SSSS and peeled back the paper to expose the corrugated part. Sprayed it with Ranger's Expresso mist and then over the top of that, sunflower Sparkle Perfect Pearls mist. Yummy sparkle in real life. doubt the camera picked up on that. Gotta get it in the mail today though as it has also become listmom, Gloria's birthday card. LOL. Since i used the box, I am also entering this over at the Inspiration emporium blog where the challenge is to use packaging.

Book page swap

In the AllThingsTim yahoo group, we are doing a 6"x6" page swap where you have to use at least one Tim stamp and one of his embossing folders. It is a 12 for 12 page swap. The front must contain these things and the backs must be decorsted with contact info and no chuipboard or grungeboard showing underneath. I used my new mini rosette dies for mine and the umbrella man die and embossed him in the folder on to Tim's Coordinations cardstock and then sanded the raised areas. On my backs, I stmped David with Archival coffee ink over the patterned paper and then colored his eye with green colored pencil and then added glossy accents to it to make it pop. I like how they turned out and can't wait to get back everyone else's to see what they did. Fun swaps, these mini book pages.

Grungy Monday #6

Nothing like waiting until Sunday to finish this one. I started it twice and didn't like the colors I chose for the Weathered Wood technique, so started over and had to let dry, etc. Add water tp paint dabbers, stir, shake, etc. I really must do this every couple of weeks to keep them good so it's not such a hastle to use them every time. I do love them though! I used tim's new sewing set of stamps finally for my tag. Kept it pretty simple! Used watermelon dabber, aged mahogony ink, and coffee archival ink. Colored the ric-rac with the mahogony ink as well and tied on some tulle.

Sayner Stampede

A girlfriend, Nancy, and I went up north to Sayner, WI. last week-end for the annual Sayner Stampede. We had so much fun there, were exhausted and broke when we came home. LOL We took the Round-Robin class Friday night and the Station Creation class Saturday night and then just shopped the booths and local stores. Bought lots of goodies at the Mark-It Place in Sayner, famous for their gorgeous transparancies. I love those things and buy so many every year and then won't cut them apart and use them cuase they are too pretty to use! Well, this year we did something totally different with them and I am going to start using some of them. Plus the jewelry we made with Bottle Caps, Inc. products were so fun and Timmy, I have ordered a whole bunch of supplies to make more. I know what my girls are getting for Christmas this year. LOL We hit the stores in Rhinelander(Nosser's) and Minoqua(Stamp This, Scrap That, formerly the Baker's Wife) on the way up and then the Paper Studio in Minoqua on the way back. Bought some great things and made some really cute make and takes and great projects in the classes. We really loved the jewelry we made. I am showing the haul I got in the pictures and hope to share some of the projects later. I got a few more of my new faves, LaBlanche stamps from Germany, love these! A feww dies, nesties, papers, special paper for copics, Viva pearl pens, trims, zutter covers and chipboard pages,rusty tin stuff, paper doilies, layering pieces from the paper cuts and a new magazine that has so many of my wonderful blog buddies in it. It's so fun to page thru and say, I know her and her, and her! I also had preordered my new Sizzix and inkpad holders from Angie Noe prior to the trip so the car wouldn't be full. I had to order four new Distress inkpad storage towers from another booth that was there and were all out of them, but they already arrived here yesterday. Soon I should be able to take a few shots of my studio after all the mving and organizing I have done to it.

Well I really liked this tag with the ornaments! They crackled so nice! I just wish I had some really nice white Christmas rub-ons! I keep looking for some but haven't found them yet, so I had to go with my gold reindeer again. They matched up with my embossing and gold edges really well though.I hope you will get inspired and play along. I have to post this tag early this week as I am heading out of town early tomorrow morning for the week-end. I am attending the Sayner Stampede in Sayner, Wisconsin. I hope we don't freeze while there! Lol. It is still cold here so can imagine what it's like after the nearly 4 hour drive further north. Lots of layers! I had fun making this tag. I made mine quite different than Tim's now that there's a die to cut my own snowman, I used that. I also cheated when it came to the snow as I bought some stuff in a jar called Liquid Snow or something like that and it made it a lot easier and faster. Fun tag with lots of yummy texture! Hope you will play along and add a link to your art!

Day #6, 2008

We have nbow created our way to Day #6, 2008 in Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas journey from start to finish that we began the first of the year. one tag a week and we will have created them all by the time his Lordship starts the new ones for this year. Come and play along if you'd like, jump in anytime or go back thru and make them all if you like. I have an Inlinks spot at the bottom of each post or adding yours. i didn't have the acetate printed sheets that Tim used for mine, so I had to stamp on acetate and then color the back of it. i did a little Christmas village scene for mine and stamped the pine boughs and verse on the tag and lay it over that and then did the splatter stamp with the white paint on top. Added a few snowflake brads and some shear ribbon and called it good. I will have to post next week's on Friday morning as I will be out of town to a mnini convention in northern Wisconsin for the week-end. Hope you'll have the chance to play along.

quickie tag

Only one day left to enter a tag for the Embossed Tag challenge on OWSE group, so threw this one together tonight using all Tim stuff. Cut the dress form pieces from chipboard and then colored with the new Distress stains and then embossed and used walnut ink to highlight the riased areas. Embossed the entire tag and blended distress inks on that for the background. Embossed the dress and button and rubbed with the walnut stain ink again and blended a little more around randonly. Wrapped spool with some jute and ruubed it with the blending tool to adda touch of brown.Cut the wings and embossed them and then sprayed with oyster glimmer mist Tied on some tule and tore it up on the edges.. Fun quick tag! Easy!

Ranger Challenge Canvas/ SSSS- Show us a button

I just finished posting my current Ranger Challenge piece into the folder of the Yahoo group.Since I used buttons on this canvas, I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge this week, which is Show Us Your Buttons. I really love these challenges. We had to use Jenni B paints. I used the only three colors of JB paint dabbers I own, chili powder, malterd milk, and chicken feed an a 5x7" canvas randomly. I then stamped the image onto a layer of napkin I separated using the plain white layer as I can't find any tissue paper since I cleaned my studio and threw it all away. LOL, using Archival coffee ink. I used Claudine's matte medium to adhere it to the canvas. I also stamped the verse with the same ink. Tore some tissue tape and laid it down randomly, then blended in some walnut stain distress ink onto the tape. Bvlended the whole canvas with some tea dye distress ink and glues down the music note buttons that I cut the shanks off with glossy accents. I love how this turned out and I need more of these paints. I love them!

Bind It All class

I am taking an online course from My Creative Classroom using the Bind It all. I figured it was time to try mine out since I purchased it 4 or five years ago and haven't used it yet!!! Last week's assignment was to practice punching and then use chipboard and cover it and make a binding and punching guide to use in the future for reference. Nothing too fancy but fun and I learned a lot. Here's pics of my various pages and the complete project. I cut apart the words from the lesson that were important to refer to later when I try to make more projects.

On we move to Day #5, 2008 in Tim's Twelve Tags of Christmas frm start to finsih challenge. It all started because my good blog-buddy Donna said she wished she had made all of Tim's tags from the start. I challenged her to make just one tag a week from the beginning starting Jan. 1st and she would have them all made before Tim started his new ones this December. Of course Donna liked the idea, but came right back with, 'you'll be making them along with me, right?" The rest is history. We are still popping them out and I add a spot at the bottom of my weekly post to link them to, so come on folks. Join in on the fun. They don't have to be Christmas themed, just use the techniques Tim describes in each. We are having a lot of fun making them.I really love the background for this one. I cheated and die-cut my deer though, so mine is a doe. Play along and add your link below.

GM-4/ SSSS-Show us a Tim Technique

I am going for the two-fer AGAIN!.This week on Linda's blog, Studio L3, we had to use Tim's Texture Fades and Distress technique and on SSSS, we had to use a Tim technique, so this one will work for both challenges easily. I decided to step back to fall and use the pumpkin vines texture fade for mine and the definitions stampm from the Reflections set. Used old paper ink to stamp it on my folder. Also used another of Tim's techs by cutting the top of the folder to fit the tag through. Slick! After running it through Vincenzo, my Vagabond, I used the distressing tools to blend orange marmalade and rusty hinge on the pumpkins and peeled paint on the vines. Stamped the verse with Coffee Archival ink as well as the tree branch. Stamped part of the birds with black Archival ink. Blended rusty hinge and peeled paint over it all and then the edges in walnut stain. Smeared some distress stickles on the pumpkins for a tiny bit of bling. Voila!

December Tags- Day #4, 2008

My calendar says it's been another week, so here we are at Day #4, 2008 in Tim's Twelve tags of Christmas. This was a fun one except I had a lot of trouble getting the photo-editting program in my new computer to do what I wanted it to. That canvas is really cool to print on. This is my darling grandson, AJ (Anthony James) on Santa's lap and if you knew him, he would be debating his behavior. LOL He's always good for us and at school, but add his Mom and instant change. He can really push her buttons and then bat those milk chocolate eyes and smile that devilish grin. I had all girls so never had this relationship that they have but he's really a good boy, just likes to get her going. I did not do the numbers on the tag because I wanted the focus to be the snapshot so didn't want to cover any more of it up.

Grungy Monday #3/SSS-show me some Distress

Combo time again.For Linda's Grungy Monday, we had to use some of Tim's colorwash sprays and for SSSS we had to Distress. Easy enough, I pulled out some of my sprays for this and decided to use Sailboat Blue and Orange Sunset and spray them through sequin waste. You won't believe the look I got is from those two colors! I overstamped with Ranger embossing ink and embossed with black detail powder.i used Tim's tattered flower die and the paper that they wad up in our orders to fill the boxes and made some flowers with brads holding them together. I then crumpled them up and sprayed with yellow and orange color washes and then Perfect Pearls mist over that for shimmer. Added one of these to it and glued some DewDrops on with glossy accents. I added tissue tape and then blended distress ink over that using walnut stain and then filmstrip tape over that. White seam binding for the ribbon that I colored myslef by smearing walnut stain distress ink onto my craft sheet and then spraying it with Butterscotch colorwash spray and crumpled the ribbon and dragged it through the puddle several times and let dry. Attached the filmstrip ribbon with Tim's tiny attacher.

On we move to Day #3, 2008. I really love this Santa image and I followed this one pretty much like Tim's. Once again I had to use my plaid ribbon. I really like this one and I used my last large oval fragment for this so will have to try to remeber I need more as well as the Philosophy charms. I didn 't have anything holidayish at all for this so I had to go with Journey. I figured Santa has quite a journey each year so it was appropriate. LOL Join us in the challenge if you'd like. Grungy Monday #2

I am at it again. Finding myself short on time and hurried on deadlines, so I am combining challenges once again. This is my take on Linda's "Grungy Monday #2", "SSSS, anything but a card", as well as "steampunk challenge" for OWSE. This was a fun one. I made the gears die into my stamp and followed Tim's instructions per the video uising the matte medium for resist. Scattered straw, wild honey, sage, and a bit of aged mahogany for the distress inks. Embossed my new Tim Steampunk images in black detail, added a gear under a Bingo marker with glossy accents, one of tim's corners, gear and spinner, filmstrip ribbon. Tied it with tulle and ripped the edges, added a couple of jump-rings and an old coin charm from my stash. My first attempt at Steampunk and I am now hooked. I love this style!!!

In rolls another week so a new tag from Tim's Christmas tags to make. This week we are at Day #2, 2008. I really liked making this one. Love the background and this year, I have the splatter brush that he used. It worked sooooo nicely. I didn't have any white Christmas style rub-ons, but I had these silver reindeer ones that worked nicely with my blues and silvers in the background. This is such a gorgeous piece in real life but hard to photograph. I hope you will join us in the journey of recreating all of these beauties with the free tutorials on Tim Holtz's blog where he gives you step-by-step instructions with full color photos of how to do them all. He is amazing and definately my biggest hero! I have my studio coming along nicely and as soon as my back-ordered organizing holders arrive, should be nearly done. I am going to have a custom made inkpad holder made and another custom made sizzix holder made and shipped also. I am going to a convention the first week of May where she will be so may wait til then to get them so I don't have to pay for shipping but will see how anxious I get as the rest comes together.

Grunge Mondays- week #1, Day #10, 2008

I had to work a split-shift today so made the most of it by making my Grunge Monday tag for the first week of Linda's new challenge over at Studio3. We are going to be making something each week following the instructions for Tim Holtz's "12 Tags of Christmas." Each Monday, Linda will tell us which one to follow and we make our take on it following the technique he outlines for us. It is so much fun. We just finished doing his whole book in random fashion, making one project eahc week until we did them all. We all learned so much and made so many new friends online. I hope you will join us. Thank you Linda for keeping us motivated and Tim for all of your generous sharing of your talents and knowledge. This week we are doing Day # 10 from 2008. I used the new Wild West set and wanted to incorporate the Wild West words and handguns from it, so I got out my shrink plastic and it worked great! Perfect size and glued them down using glossy accents. I stamped the Salloon onto the grungeboard for the technique. I really liked how it turned out.

Spring Tag

In one of my yahoo groups we are having a spring tag challenge and it ends tomorrow. I have not had time to create at all lately with all of my free time going to straightening up my studio so used my lunchbreak today and whipped this tag up and entered it quickly before the deadline. It felt so good to make something. I have got to finish up. I kind of stopped because some of the organizers I had ordered for all of my 8 1/2 x 11" papers is on backorder and won't ship til mid May! I need that spot for several other things to follow the plan I had going. I may have to box it up so I can get the rest moved around and see if it's going to work for me. It has been such a chore! I really need to stop buying andf hoarding and get using these supplies!

December Tags- Day 1, 2008

Alrighty, we are moving into 2008's tags this week. Here is my take on Day #1. I really enjoyed this one, though it took me several days to find my mask! LOL I am making quite a bit of progress on my studio revamping and hope to really make a big transformation today! Wish me luck. I pretty much followed this one to a tee but loved the results. Show us a word challenge aka birthday card

Since I took a play break this afternoon to make my spring tag, I decided to do the challenge over on SimonSaysStampandShow, Show Us A Word, and make it into a birthday card for my dear father-in-law's birthday tomorrow. He is turning 81. He is so young for his age and in such good shape. Anyway, I hope he likes it. My word is Celebrate and I used a sizzix die I bought quite a while ago and hadn't used yet. I really like it and iut actually has two birds on it. I used an old flourish and flowers die I have had forever and cut it apart to make it fit behind the bird which I pop-dotted over it after piecing together the parts I opted to use. I swiped the breast and wings lightly with terra cotta paint dabber and firmly on the beak. The eye is black enamel accents. I ran out of room for any other embellishments and men don't really go for bling so I guess it's done.

Spring Tag-Tim Style

I have been trying so hard to go through and organize and purge my craft studio that I have not had any time to play and create, so I took the time today to make a spring tag for the AllThingsTim yahoo group challenge that Della from IBrakeForStamps gave us. I used my new Distress stains for the first time. Love them! I also used some liquid applique that surfaced in the "dig" for the rabbit. Fun stuff. I found lots of clear packaging that I couldn't bear to throw away and trimmed them down into a managable pile and decided to use some over my stamped butterflies. I stamped in black stazon onto the plastic and then colored with my Copic markers from the back side. Important-back side, ask me how I know! They don't play well together. i then stapled the butterflies onto the stamped images with my tiny attacher. When I heated the liquid appplique, the butterflies began to shrivel and bend and fold, so I took a paintbrush handle and shaped them how I wanted them and colored underneath them with markers, then smeared a bit of picket fence stickles onto that and a bit on the plastic butterflies as well. Made the body with a streak of Black Stickles. This was a fun tag to make and am glad I saved that packaging now.

Believe it or not, we are already at 12 weeks on this challenge! Here is my version of Day #12 from Tim's 2007 12 tags of Christmas. I really enjoyed this one and like my results. I hope more of you will play along and join us in this challenge. you don't have to make the tags Christmassy at all. Just follow the technique for each one as we go and then link us your results and share with us. We are going to complete them all by the tie he starts the 12 tags for this year, just by making one tag a week.

Wow, my dear blog-friends, and extemely talented artists, Candy and Donna awarded me with a Stylish Blog award a few days ago. I have been so busy and still not used to this computer that I have not posted about it to thank them and choose my seven blogs to honor. So thank you both again, very much. I was so surprised to get this from both of you! So now the rules to this are as follows:

1. I work as a part-time flexible sales associate for the postal service, you know, just six days a week and as many hours as they can get out of me. LOL, part-time as per my title.

4. I am addicted to coffee! Big-time!

5. My hubby and I used to go golfing and fishing a lot, but we never seem to have time anymore though I enjoy both of these a lot.

Here is my tag for this week's entry, Day #11, 2007 from Tim's blog. Liked the technique and got results but it is sooooo missing something. I held a few things on it to see but nothing screamed "add me." Oh well, it's about the technique I guess. I can't believe we are almost done with the first year already! Time really does fly. can't wait to see what you all do for yours.

OK, that turned out sideways even though I rotated it and tried to edit it again but no rotating option there???? I will figure this out and soon I hope! On to the next challenge! As you all know, this is the final episode in the CCC challenge over at StudioL3's blog where linda had us work throught the enite book, Compendium of Curuiosities by Lord Tiom of Holtz. This week is week #35, found on page #67. i combined it with the challenge on Simon says Stamp and Show challenge this week, aka, SSSS, show us some metal. I just tried metals for the first time a week or so ago on my flower and really loved it. last night I ordered several molds from TenSecondsStudio and some more metal sheets. It's really fun. For this one, I just used a silver sheet I got in a starter kit from Walnut Hollow I think. I cut it to size and applied it to white cardstock and die cut it with my old puzzle maker die and then ran it thru my Vagabond in Tim's texture fade. Of course backwards, so my numbers are backwards but it still looks cool and if I hadn't told you, you may not have noticed. LOL I separated each piece and colored with alcohol inks in various mixes and then swiped each of them with black Satyzon to highlight the embossed areas. Piercing the holes on left was a little tricky as I had so many layers so my brads are crooked but that's OK. For my stitching, I used gold thread to match the brads I chose. Background was wrinkle-free distress, using milled lavendar, dusty concord, and chipped sapphire. Added some tisseue tape randomly and stamped some flourushed prior to that and blended dusty concord around the edges. It looks so much better in person that in the picture but metal always does. I am hooked!
