April Tag- 2012

Here it is the 29th day of the month and I am just now getting my tag posted for Tim's Tags of 2012 challenge. I have had it done for a couple of days but not a picture or post. I need to get it in gear a bit. LOL I didn't have the right colors of distress embossing powder, so I had to use vintage photo and black soot for my tree branch along with the peeled paint for the leaves. As you can see, I still don't have my pre-ordered branch die so had to use a limb of the Halloween tree. It worked just fine. I added some black enamel accents for his eye. Love the reflections stamp with folder technique. Very cool effect.

Tip-in Page swap

Over at the Outlaw Women's Scrapbook Emporium yahoo group, we have been doing a monthly tip-in page swap where we got a hard-cover book to use, added the dimensions of it to the database and what theme we want our pages to be and then each month, we get a partner to make a page to add into our book. This month, I got Amberlee to create a page for and her theme is bright, colorful, steam-punk, altered and her page is 4 3/4 wide by 8 in. tall. I really enjoy steampunk, but just never know what to do to create it, so I struggled and didn't even start it until today, the 26th! Yikes, it's due in 4 days! Anyway, I used my new Dyan Reavely sprays to color the page and dried it and then began. Lots of Tim's stamps and inks in layers on this and then his filmstrip ribbon and tissue tape here and there. I didn't want to add a lot of embellishments as these books need to close so I try to keep my pages relatively flat. I sure hope she likes it. I liked it so much, I am going to go make myself one in the size for my book while I have all the stuff laying out.

COC2 #2, SSSS, ATT April Challenges

Well,we are

getting right down to the wire here for these challenges and I still have to make Tim's April tag, so having to combine a few here. I have had a terrible time with a sty in my eye for over a week and the last three days have been unbearable, so I finally left work yesterday and went to the doctor, only to be sent to an eye doctor, who was able to finally slice the top open with a scalpel so that it could drain. Terribly infected and way down between the gland and the cartilage, so really hard to lance it. It is finally getting the pressure released today so I am home after getting someone to take 6 hours of my shift for me. It is so swollen and nasty and I have pulled out nearly all of my eyelashes trying to find the one causing all the pain and inflammation. I look just hideous!!! On vacation next week, thank goodness! Anyway, for Linda's COC2 challenge, turn your Tim book volume 2 to page 58 for the technique. I had not done the faux patina before, so that is also qualifying my to enter it to the ATT challenge, and on Simon Says Stamp and Show, the challenge for this week, is to show us your word. Well, the word I chose was "Explore". I so enjoy all things nature and outdoors, so I went with this. I used Snowcap white, stream, pool, and lettuce for my AI's. And stamped it with black archival and the background stamp was French Ultramarine Archival. Oooh, those inks are so yummy. Distress stained the seam binding to match my color scheme and voila!

A Cut Above- Day #6

I needed a masculine birthday card for my daughter Savanna's boyfriend, Harry's

21st birthday yesterday, so used this technique to make it. Just happened to get my new Tim Diffuser set in Saturday's mail and hadn't had a chance over the week-end to play. I used the round one and Tim's old jalopy texture trade for the inner circle that I kept smooth. I sponged a little black ink onto it and wished I hadn't but too late now. Lots of possibilities with these I think.I think embossing folders are the slickest thing invented when it comes to paper crafts and have since they came out.

A Cut Above- Day #5

I have so much ribbon in my stash, so this was a good one for me to make. I used Opalite ink to highlight my dry-emboosed butterflies from the folder on the dark purple cardstock and then added another butterfly underneath mine with the tiny attacher and used Distress tickles in Black Soot to make the body. Love these and will be doing more of these!

A Cut Above- Day 4

I finally got busy and got my card done for this. I used Tim Holtz's butterfly die and it is a bit too large for the gift-card holder portion of the card to open smoothly, but it does open. I really like how this came out and will be making more of these for gift-cards. I had never even tried to use those little mover/shaper dies before that hold the card and had no idea why I bought them, other than they were Tim's. LOL
